Clutter Challenge: the Backup Caulk

Visitors are imminent and so one takes a critical look at things around the house. What once seemed to be a minor and very ignorable detail now seems like a bathtub in serious need of recaulking. Fortunately I have my trusty assortment of caulking supplies at hand, each one at least three years old and already opened. Ten to one I’ll be off to the store to find a fresher tube and so these three can be sent on their way.

Do you have any ageing home repair supplies you know you’ll never use? Is it time to let them go?

  1. Ha ha…I was just scrolling through to see what sorts of things you sent away on Saturdays. The backup caulk cracked me up because I — right now — have a shower that needs re-caulking. And I have old, previously opened caulk. Even if some of it is still good, I surely don’t have enough for this particular project. Home Depot here I come! 🙂

    1. A totally unscientific poll of friends, family and clients reveals that every home has at least two tubes of opened caulk!
