The edict came down loud and clear as I sat shivering in the stands waiting for my daughter’s marching band team to make their appearance at finals. “Please note that noise makers are prohibited under state championship regulations,” boomed the loudspeaker and so we parents hastily shoved the castanets we’d planned to rattle under our seats and into our purses.
The show was “Spanish Fantasy” and the castanets were just perfect but rules are rules. The question is, why did I carry those castanets around in my purse for two weeks after the championships were over? Send it away Saturday!
