Clutter Challenge: Drawings

There isn’t a parent alive who doesn’t treasure the drawings their children first produce. ‘MOM’ it says proudly, as the arms and legs stick out from your body in an age-appropriate drawing style which makes you wonder if they actually see you as a giant spider.

But if your child is older now, or has children of their own, it’s probably okay to keep a representative piece which sums up the genre and let go of the other 87,000 similar pictures your child did that same week.

For them, the fun was in the doing. For you, it captures a sweet memory, but one drawing will do that very nicely.

If you have more than one child, this Send it away Saturday could potentially free up quite a few storage totes, as you assess their early artwork with a kind but critical eye. But since it’s Send it away Saturday, if you can let one piece go, just one, you’re done.

Umm, you’re so right. About everything – the giant spider, the 87000 works of art…and the letting go of one masterpiece. I did, I did. Somehow.
