Becoming a Better Organizer

I write this blog for you because I know that if you want to get organized, there’s a way for you to do that. I’m always learning, whether it’s through my work as an organizer, from my colleagues, from reading or through my membership with the Institute for Challenging Disorganization. I am a proud ICD® subscriber and ICD Chronic Disorganization Specialist®. ICD specialist badge

The Institute for Challenging Disorganization currently offers 244 hours of educational classes for subscribers. Topics include ADHD, hoarding disorder, time management and the effects of aging on organizing strategies.

My goal is to actively listen* to all 244 hours of training by December 31, 2021. I’ll also continue to learn from each new weekly class ICD offers its subscribers.

*Active listening means I’ll take notes on what I learn and map out how each class will help me help you. If a class doesn’t present me with any new insight or information (unlikely), I’ll create an outline of what I was expecting to learn from the class and find out how to learn it another way.

Of course, just like any professional, I won’t be sharing the class content with you directly.  Your dentist doesn’t teach you how to skip dental school but the skills that dentist has mean you’ll have a better experience working with them. My growing knowledge and skills as I complete this challenge will make me a better organizer and a more informed blog post writer, which means I’ll bring more to the table for you.

To keep focused and on track, I’m going to post my progress on my Joyful Surroundings Facebook page each Tuesday. Send it away Saturday, meet Tracking Tuesday!

Want to track my progress and help keep me accountable? I’d love to see you over on the Joyful Surroundings Facebook page.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming. I’m looking forward to seeing you on Saturday for the next blog post. This one’s called, “What is chronic disorganization?” You might have heard this piece of organizing jargon bandied about and wondered what the heck it is. I’ll break it down for you in Saturday’s post.

Looking forward to both Saturday’s post as well as your Tracking Tuesday posts. You are always a big help! Thank you so much.

    1. Thanks for your support, Jaya! I posted here on the blog for this first Tracking Tuesday and will post on the Joyful Surroundings Facebook page for future tracking updates. Maybe I’ll put a link at the bottom of each Saturday post so people can easily hop over to see how I’m doing from the blog.
