How do I contact you to schedule a consultation?
Click on my contact page and fill out the short form there. You can also call me at (720) 526-2114 or email me at email@example.com.
Where do you work?
I work side-by-side with you in your home in
- Boulder (city limits)
Do you offer virtual organizing?
No, I do not offer virtual organizing. The connection that comes from working side-by-side with someone who can hold your emotions and keep the space safe for you to process your feelings about your things isn’t something that passes through the screen.
Do you handle moves?
NO: I don’t work with people who need to move within days or weeks. Under such pressure, decluttering decisions will be frantic and potentially regretted.
YES: I do work with people who know they have a move coming up at some point (that would be almost all of us!) and want to be ready when the time comes.
YES: I also work with people whose basements, attics and storages units are full of boxes from past moves.
Are you vaccinated?
Yes, I’m fully vaccinated and so is every member of my household.
How often will we meet?
Sessions are up to three hours long and are scheduled every week or every other week.
How much does organizing cost?
Each organizing session of up to three hours cost $250. If you have a substantial amount of clutter, I offer prepaid packages which will save you up to 15% per session.
What is your cancellation policy?
When you’re ready to deal with the clutter, nothing short of illness will stop you from keeping our appointments. When you’re not, you’ll find a dozen perfectly valid reasons to put it off every time you see our appointment coming up. I understand that life happens, but I also know that if you find yourself avoiding this commitment to yourself, you’re not ready to do this work. That’s fine, but we’ll need to evaluate our working relationship if you cancel or reschedule your organizing appointment more than once.
What if we’re not a good fit?
My free consultation is for us both to see if we want to work with each other. All clients then schedule a three-hour stand-alone session for $250 to see how we work together. If we decide not to continue, you’ll still have gotten three hours of decluttering and organizing work done, and we’ll part with no hard feelings on either side.
I’m soooo embarrassed to let you see my house
I delight in working with people who feel overwhelmed by clutter. Our initial consultation will be the hardest part of the whole organizing process, because you may not have let anyone in your house for years. But it’s a great chance for you to see for yourself that I won’t judge you. Don’t tidy up before I get there!
How long will getting organized take?
At its heart, clutter is the physical representation of many, many unmade decisions. We put off making decisions because it’s hard work and we fear making the wrong choice. Working with me, you’ll build up your decision-making confidence and learn to make decisions more quickly. So, over time, your decluttering muscle will grow and you’ll pick up speed. That said, the clutter didn’t accumulate in a day, and so it’s a process rather than an event to tame it.
I don’t do rapid clear-outs because the research shows that’s ineffective and harmful. For some reason, your brain has decided that holding onto the clutter is keeping you alive, so it’s been working hard to keep you surrounded by things. Together we’ll calm your brain down and keep you feeling safe while we deal with the clutter. Slow and steady will win this race.
What supplies will I need?
Your courage and your sense of humor, tons of garbage bags and some bankers boxes (with lids) for us to get started with. Don’t head for The Container Store just yet. You most likely have some organizing bins already and if you wait until we’re done decluttering, it’ll be much clearer what will be useful for you to buy.
Good to know: I don’t sell any organizing containers or products and I’m not an affiliate for anyone who does. Any recommendations I make while we’re working together won’t be influenced by any of that.
What happens to the things I declutter?
After each three-hour session, I drive away with a trunkful of your donations in my car. I drop them off at ARC or Goodwill and email you a copy of the donation receipt for your records. You’ll be surprised how much I can fit in my car!
How can I make the most out of our sessions?
When we agree to work together, I’ll give you a copy of my ingeniously titled guide, “Getting the most out of your organizing session.” It’ll help you set yourself up for decluttering and organizing success.
